The Grays got a great outing from starting pitcher Beau Dannemiller to top the New Haven Co. Cutters and improve to 12-9 in the second half. Dannemiller worked around five walks, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three through eight innings of work. With the win Dannemiller improves his mark to 6-5 on the year. Grays 2B Josh Colafemina led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. New Haven Co. RF Jeremy Pickrel led the Cutters at the plate. He was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the losing effort.

Worcester 3, New Jersey 2 (10 innings)

The Worcester Tornadoes scored a run in the top half of the tenth inning to hold off New Jersey and improve to 9-13 in the second half. Starting pitcher Junior Guerrero pitched well, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits while striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings. Guerrero did not factor in the decision, however. Instead reliever John Birtwell notched his fourth win of the year by working a perfect ninth and tenth. Tornadoes 1B Yohanny Valera led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run.

North Shore 5, Brockton 1 (10 innings)

The North Shore Spirit got four runs in the tenth inning to put the game out of reach for the Rox and improved to 16-5 in the second half. The first-place Spirit got a good outing by starting pitcher Joey Siak, though he did not factor in the decision. Instead, it was reliever Joey Baker who notched the win, his third of the year. Siak scattered 10 hits allowing just one run through 7 2/3 innings. Brockton starter John Kelly also pitched well, but didn't factor in the decision either. Kelly allowed one run on nine hits and struck out three in eight innings of work. Spirit C Alex Trezza led all hitters in the game, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Quebec 7, Atlantic City 4

The Quebec Capitales scored four times in the first inning and, despite allowing the Atlantic City Surf to tie things up in the third, were able to plate another run in the fifth and never look back en route to their 11th win of the second half. Capitales starting pitcher Brad McLaughlin got his second win of the year. He allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out three in six innings of work. Quebec closer Cristian Mendoza notched his fourth save of the season by working a scoreless ninth inning. Leading the way at the plate was Quebec SS Ivan Naccarata, who was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Sussex 8, Nashua 7

The Sussex Skyhawks overcame 12 hits by the Nashua Pride with a run in the ninth inning, giving the Skyhawks a narrow win, their seventh of the second half. Jamie Merchant was the pitcher of record for Sussex. He allowed a run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings to improve to 1-1 on the year. Skyhawks 3B Brian Rios led all hitters at the plate. He was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Three different hitters recorded at least two hits for the Pride, including CF Rich Giannotti, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI in the losing effort.
