SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Chris Campanale's first period hat-trick gave the Mississippi RiverKings (18-21-6) the start they needed as they took revenge on the first-place Louisiana IceGators (27-11-4) in the form of a 5-1 thumping at the Lander's Center Saturday night.
The "ËKings got on the board early when Chris Campanale found the back of the net over a scrambling Riley Gill to put the hometown team up 1-0, just two minutes in. Campanale added to the one-goal lead seven minutes later with a pass from Matt Whitehead to beat Gill right side. Campanale completed his hat trick on the power play, at the 13:23 mark of the first period. Campanale poked in Whitehead's shot right by Gill to give the "ËKings a three-goal lead heading into the first intermission.

Two minutes later, shorthanded, Mike MacDonald notched his 201st career point when he picked up Whitehead's rebound to give the "ËKings a 5-0 lead over the first-place IceGators.
