Vancouver Giants News Release

Ladner BC - The Vancouver Giants wrapped up camp tonight with Head Coach Don Hay running his charges through all aspects of a typical game. The first period was twenty minutes of five on five hockey, with both teams scoring twice. Mikael Jung and Jonathon Parker scored for White while Andrej Kudrna and Craig Cunningham replied for Team Black.

The second period was spent on the power play, with Black and White taking turns on 5 minute power plays for the twenty minute session. Lance Bouma scored on the power play for Team Black while Team White responded with two goals, Jonathon Parker scoring his second of the night and Chris Cloud adding goals with the man advantage.

The first half of period three was spent four on four, and Evander Kane once again demonstrated that he is ready for the season. Kane scored once and assisted on a Garry Nunn marker in the four on four, then followed up with an empty netter in five on five to wrap up the scoring on the evening. Kane also engaged in a scrap with Mitch Czibere to round out the Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Kane, Jung and Parker scored twice on the evening and Jung looked impressive throughout the evening. The two teams get together again Wednesday night, 7pm at the Ladner Leisure Centre for the Alumni Game. Former players Milan Lucic and Spencer Machacek will team up with Assistant Coach Chad Scharff to coach Team White, while Gilbert Brule and Brett Festerling will team up with Assistant Coach Yogi Svejkovsky and take the reins of Team Black.

Admission will be by donation and proceeds will benefit the Giants Education Fund.
