Camp begins early for nine IceHogs skaters

Rockford, Ill.- With less then a week from the beginning of the 2004-05 training camp, nine Rockford IceHogs players will get a jump start on the new season by attending American Hockey League camps this week. The nine players in camp early, is an all-time high for the IceHogs, who are entering their sixth season of play in Rockford.

"We want to have the call-ups and we want to be a team that's known for loaning players to the AHL," said IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. "We have lots of exposure and we want to get us on the map as a team that has guys who can play in the AHL. All but one of the teams in which our guys are going to is in the division that surrounds Rockford."

The IceHogs will have three players in camp with the Milwaukee Admirals, who begin camp on Thursday. Forwards J.C. Ruid and J.F. Dufour along with goaltender Michel Robinson will skate with the Admirals.

The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks will also house three Hogs in their training camp. Forwards Jason Ralph and Olivier Proulx along with defenseman Tim Wedderburn are in camp with the Ducks this fall. The only returning IceHogs skater, defenseman Nathan Lutz, is in camp with the Manitoba Moose, while winger Terry Harrison is attending the Portland Pirates training camp and rookie defenseman Steve Pelletier is in Chicago with the Wolves.

The IceHogs will kick off their training camp on Monday, October 4. The first practice will be at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverview Icehouse.
