Calling All Entertainers: Loons Looking for Local Talent

The Great Lakes Loons will hold auditions for National Anthem performers, a public address announcer, an on-field host and general entertainers during several sessions over the coming weeks.

"This is an open call for entertainers with a variety of talents who can help make our Loons' home games more enjoyable for the fans," says Loons' President and General Manager Paul Barbeau. "We know there are many great performers in the region and we have a lot of spots to fill, so we want to encourage everyone with an interest to come for an audition and see if there may be a place for them on game days."

National Anthem Performers

The Loons are seeking performers for the National Anthem at home games. There will be two auditions. The first will be Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bay City Players Theater, 1214 Columbus in Bay City. A second audition will be Saturday, February 17, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Midland Center for the Arts, 1801 W. St. Andrews in Midland. Those auditioning should be prepared to perform the National Anthem for a panel of judges. The Loons will not provide a stereo system for background music and anthem singers are encouraged to perform the anthem a capella. Judges will include Jim Hohmeyer, artistic director for the Midland Center for the Arts Music Society, reporter Eric Jylha of WNEM TV5, Rob Clark, Bay City Times feature editor, Bob Sabourin, choral director of the Saginaw Choral Society and Leo Najar, conductor of the Bijou Orchestra in Bay City. Public Address Announcer/On-Field Host

The official voice of Dow Diamond will be auditioned at Saginaw Valley State University's Ryder Center. There will be two sessions for public address tryouts - Tuesday, February 6, 2007 and Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Both tryouts will be held between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The chosen announcer will be the in-stadium voice of the Loons. The related position of on-field host also will be auditioned at that time. Interested candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic and comfortable speaking in front of a large crowd. Interested candidates also must pre-register with Linda Uliano.

Game Day Entertainment

The Loons are seeking musical and talent acts to perform during home games at Dow Diamond. Music groups, jugglers, clowns, magicians and others with special talents should submit a VHS, DVD or CD recording of the performed talent to Linda Uliano, Great Lakes Loons, 215 E. Main St., Midland, MI 48640.
