
Angels Minor League system ranked in Top Five again

For the fifth consecutive season, Baseball America has ranked the Angels' Minor League talent in the publication's Top 5 in all of baseball. The Angels are the only organization to be ranked in the Top 5 by the publication each of the last five seasons (2003 - #5. 2004 - #3, 2005 - #1, 2006 - #4, 2007 - #4).
Baseball America states "for the better part of the new millennium, the Angels have accrued talent as effectively as any organization in baseball."
Seven of the Top 10 Prospects have played in Cedar Rapids. They are:
1. Brandon Wood, ss (2004)
2. Nick Adenhart, rhp (2006)
3. Erick Aybar, ss (2005)
5. Stephen Marek, rhp (2006)
7. Jeff Mathis, c (2002)
8. Sean Rodriguez, ss/2b (2004-05)
10. Tommy Mendoza, rhp (2006)
It is anticipated that the other three prospects (rhp Young-Il-Jung, c Hank Conger, rhp Sean O'Sullivan) will spend time in Cedar Rapids during the 2007 season.
The Kernels open the 2007 MWL season on the road at Beloit on Thursday, April 5th and the 2007 home season at noon on Wednesday, April 11th vs. Burlington. Season tickets and Flex-Plan coupon books are on sale now with individual game tickets going on sale March 12th at 10 am.
