California Cougars News Release

(STOCKTON, CALIF., JANUARY 29, 2007) - Hot off a thirteen point effort over three games this past week, California Cougars midfielder Brian Farber was named the Major Indoor Soccer League's Offensive Player of the Week today.

Farber led all players in the MISL last week with 13 points, posting six goals, including a hat trick in the team's contest against the Milwaukee Wave on Saturday night, and an assist.

The award is the first for the second year player out of Oregon State. Farber was one of three Cougars to play in the club's first 30 games last season.

A college standout, Farber began his collegiate career at North Idaho College where he was named the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player.

Farber still holds North Idaho College's all-time points record with 66 and is the first soccer player from the college to play for a professional team.

A transfer to Oregon State, Farber was a second-team All-Pac-10 selection and played in all 20 games for a Beaver club that posted a 13-7 record and went to the NCAA playoffs. Named the Idaho State High School Player of the Year in 2000, Farber was named to the All-State twice and to the All-League team three times. He was awarded the team's "Golden Toe" in 2000.
