Cougars Announce 2010-11 Team Award Winners

March 22, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - California Cougars News Release

Stockton- The California Cougars today announced their team award winners for the 2010-11 Season. Leading the way was Team MVP, Head Coach and Defender Antonio Sutton. Clemente "Bo" Fonseca was named Rookie of the Year and Sierra High alum Araia Berhane received the team's Community Service Award.

Sutton, who was also named to the PASL All-League 2nd Team, led the Cougars with 15 goals on the season while directing the team both from his position on defense and from the bench. Sacramento native Clemente "Bo" Fonseca led all Cougar rookies, and was among the leagues rookie leaders, in goals scored with 9 goals for the 2010-11 season. Sierra High graduate and Manteca native Araia Berhane not only improved through the duration of the season to become a fixture on defense, but he was also a regular fixture for the Cougars at their "Health's-a-kick" school assemblies and other public appearances during the 2010-11 season. It is estimated that Berhane visited over 3,000 local area school children as a part of the Cougars school assembly program.

The Cougars will be remaining active in the off season, including appearances by Cougar Mascot "Tom Cat" at various community events, Cougar sponsored group trips to San Jose Earthquakes home games, and the ever popular Cougar Summer Soccer Camps beginning this June.
