
Calgary Roughnecks Take Down Saskatchewan Rush in Preseason Matchup

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks took down the Saskatchewan Rush 14-12 on Saturday night at Moose Jaw Arena in Saskatchewan, in their final pre-season game before the NLL regular season.
Eli Salama opened the scoring 15 seconds into the game, with Tanner Cook adding one to the tally before Saskatchewan notched their first. Calgary would score three more goals in the opening quarter, from Jesse King, Thomas Vela and a second for Cook, with the Rush adding two.
Calgary kept a strong lead through the rest of the first half, with Cook reaching a hat trick and Vela scoring his second of the night. The Rush again came within two goals before Shane Simpson and Ethan Ticehurst added their firsts of the night to take the score to 9-6 leading into the half.
A low scoring third quarter for the Riggers saw the home side come within one goal, with King scoring his second of the night and the Rush adding three to their tally. However, despite Saskatchewan tying the game at 10-10 to start the fourth quarter, Calgary were able to get back into a scoring rhythm with goals from Josh Currier, Tyler Pace and King sealing the win at 14-12.
Christian Del Bianco was sensational in the Calgary net, stopping 53 of 65 shots faced. Saskatchewan outshout Calgary 65-44.
The Roughnecks open their regular season on Saturday, December 2nd in Rochester against the Knighthawks. Calgary will be back at home on Saturday, December 30th for the Home Opener party at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
