Calgary Roughnecks News Release
Saskatoon, SK - After a dominant first half, scoring eight goals and conceding only three, the Saskatchewan Rush held on for a 13-10 win over the Calgary Roughnecks. The Friday night victory at SaskTel Centre improves the West Division leaders to 6-0 at home and 8-3 overall.
The Riggers turned a low-scoring opening 30 minutes into a strong offensive push in the third quarter. Dane Dobbie scored twice on the power play while Riley Loewen, Wesley Berg and Tyler Digby chipped in singles to narrow the home side's lead to 11-8.
Despite holding the Rush to just two goals in the final 15 minutes, Calgary's comeback fell short as Loewen and Digby each contributed with fourth-quarter tallies for the visitors.
Dobbie finished the night with a team-best four goals and two helpers while the road contest also saw Berg post six points (2g, 4a). For the Rush, Mark Matthews led his squad with a pair of goals and five assists.
Saskatchewan's Aaron Bold put on a 43-save performance to record his eighth victory of the campaign. In the Calgary crease, Frank Scigliano and Christian Del Bianco shared playing time after Scigliano received the start. The pair made a combined 45 saves on 58 shots.
The Roughnecks, who have dropped their last three games, are now 4-9 on the season.
Calgary is back on home turf tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, when the New England Black Wolves (6-6) visit the Scotiabank Saddledome. Kelusky will become the second inductee of the `Forever A Roughneck' program, joining Kaleb Toth who was recognized in 2013.
