Calgary Roughnecks News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks Lacrosse Club, in partnership with the Calgary District Lacrosse Association (CDLA), is proud to announce the launch of the U7 Lil' Roughnecks, available for all amateur lacrosse players in Calgary and area under seven years old.

Over the two-year partnership, the Roughnecks Foundation will provide a stick and jersey for every participant at the U7 level to make the sport of lacrosse more accessible for Calgary families and youth.

"This program will help alleviate barriers to participation in lacrosse at the youngest level" said Melissa Blades, Director of Business Operations for the Calgary Roughnecks. "Lil' Roughnecks is providing more than just a stick; it is the first stick they will have in their lacrosse journey and hopefully the first of many. We know what participation in sport can provide to a young person and our goal for this program is to provide access and introduction."

"The CDLA is proud to partner with the Calgary Roughnecks on the U7 Lil' Roughnecks program," said Wade Bowley, President CDLA, "We are excited to see the impact and growth in our youngest division with this partnership and can't wait to see the U7 Lil' Roughnecks on the floor this season."

Registration for the 2023 lacrosse season is now open for all nine CDLA member associations in Calgary and surrounding area. For more information, please visit www.calgarylacrosse.com.
