Calgary Roughnecks Defeated by San Diego Seals 12-9

San Diego, CA - The Calgary Roughnecks were defeated by the San Diego Seals in a back-and-forth game Saturday night at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
Haiden Dickson opened the scoring for Calgary for the second week in a row, but the Seals were quick to even things up, scoring their first minutes later. Calgary finished the first quarter up by two, with Jesse King scoring on the powerplay and Shane Simpson tallying one in transition. The Seals briefly took the lead tallying two goals to start the second, however the Roughnecks would finish the first half ahead with Tyler Pace scoring his first of the night seconds before half time.
Calgary continued to find the back of the net to open the third quarter, with Pace and Simpson both tallying their second of the night. The Seals then surged ahead with four straight goals including 2 short-handed. Pace scored his second hattrick in as many weeks, before San Diego added two more. The Roughnecks offence finished the quarter scoring two goals in 27 seconds to tie things at 9-9 heading into the final frame. The Roughnecks were unable to regain the lead, being shut out in the fourth whilst the Seals added three to finish the game 12-9.
Jesse King led the Roughnecks offence in points with seven (1g, 6a). Tyler Pace finished the night with four goals, with Haiden Dickson and Shane Simpson both tallying two.
San Diego outshot Calgary 49-43, with Christian Del Bianco making 37 saves in net for Calgary. The Roughnecks finished 2-3 on the powerplay, with the Seals going 1-2.
The Roughnecks now return home to WestJet Field for the Home Opener Party on Saturday, December 30th at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Face off is set for 7:00pm with doors open at 5:30pm.
