Calgary Roughnecks Defeat Philadelphia Wings 14-11

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks won their third straight game Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome, as they defeated the Philadelphia Wings 14-11. Calgary are now 5-5 with eight games remaining in the 2023-24 regular season.

The Wings opened the scoring at 9:33, however Calgary soon took the lead with three goals in quick succession from Jesse King, Thomas Hoggarth, and Tyler Pace. The visitors came back in the second quarter, outscoring the Roughnecks 5-3 to go into the half time break up 7-6. Both teams battled to maintain the lead through the third, but a solid fourth quarter for Calgary saw them pull ahead notching six goals to take the win.

Dan Taylor had a season-best four goals tonight, combining with one assist for five points. Josh Currier notched three goals, with Shane Simpson, Thomas Hoggarth, Haiden Dickson and Tanner Cook all contributing one. Jesse King led the team in points with seven (2g, 5a) followed by Tyler Pace with six (1g, 5a).

The Roughnecks outshot the Wings tonight 52-47, with Christan del Bianco making 38 saves in net. Justin Inacio won 55% of the faceoffs for Calgary, going 16-29. Both teams' powerplay units delivered tonight, with Calgary finishing 2/2 and Philadelphia 4/4.

The Roughnecks complete the home-and-home against the Wings next Saturday when they visit Philadelphia. With an earlier face-off time of 11am MST, fans can catch the action on TSN+.
