Calgary, OC exchange blows in split

After being blown out in the first game, the Calgary Vipers(9-5) returned the favor in the night cap, besting the Orange County Flyers (6-7) 9-5 to split a Monday evening doubleheader.

Jose Felix delived the dagger, a three run homer in the sixth to extend the lead to six.

Jon Huizinga gave a masterful relief perfomance while Colin Moro and Jorge Mejia each contributed two RBI.

Huizinga came on in the fourth and retired the first seven batters he faced, striking out three, before the Flyers were able to squeeze out a few rus in the seventh. Still, he picked up his

The Vipers quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Orange County climbed back to tie the game in the fourth.

With the bases loaded in the second, Travon Jackson singled home Pacheco and Morales.

Marcus Crockett bunted for a hit in the fourth before being singled in by Van Houten to lock the game at three.

However, the Vipers loaded the bases with two outs in the fith before an infield single gave Calgary the lead back. Then, Colin Moro singled into left scoring two before the Flyers threw out Jorge Tang trying to get to third on the play.

Calgary pulled away in the sixth on the back an error extending the inning before Jose's thre run homer.

Charles Merricks was tagged with his second loss of the season, now 5-2.

The two teams will take Tuesday off before meeting for another double header Wednesday, July 30th with first pitch at 5:05
