Cale Morris Is USHL Goaltender of the Week

Waterloo, Iowa-Goaltender Cale Morris gave superlative performances during Waterloo Black Hawks wins on Friday and Sunday, prompting the United States Hockey League to recognize him as the CCM Goaltender of the Week for the third time since joining the Hawks in January.

Facing the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday, the Larkspur, Colorado, native made double-digit saves in every period during a 4-2 Waterloo victory. He finished with 34 total stops. On home ice again Sunday, nothing eluded the 18-year-old during a 3-0 win against the Sioux Falls Stampede. The 27-save effort was Morris' fourth shutout of the season, a total which leads the USHL.

In addition to having the league's best shutout count, Morris now ranks third in goals-against average (2.39), save percentage (92.3%), and tied for third in wins (21). Since being acquired in a trade from the Chicago Steel, his numbers in those categories as a Black Hawk stand at 1.57, 94.9%, and 13. All four of Morris' shutouts have been recorded wearing Black Hawks colors.

The Waterloo netminder is one of four Black Hawks to claim a USHL weekly award. Brock Boeser has been named "Forward" or "Co-Forward" of the Week three times. Hayden Shaw and Hayden Lavigne were also each recognized during their time in Waterloo.
