CORPUS CHRISTI - Chase Calabuig's 10th-inning, two-run home run handed the Hooks a 6-5 loss to the Midland RockHounds Thursday night at Whataburger Field.

With one out in a 4-4 game, Calabuig took Willy Collado's offering deep to right (4). Ronnie Dawson got a run back in the bottom of the 10th on a sacrifice fly, but Seth Martinez (W, 2-0) got Colton Shaver to ground out to end the game.

The Hooks held a 4-0 lead in the game's early stages in part due to a three-run outburst in the first frame against James Naile. J.J. Matijevic got the scoring started with an RBI double, then was followed by back-to-back RBI singles from Jake Adams and Stephen Wrenn to make it 3-0.

Matijevic went yard (7) to lead off the third for a 4-0 lead.

Hooks starter Brett Adcock struck out a season-high nine batters and allowed just three hits on three walks but was lifted with two outs in the fifth. Tommy DeJuneas promptly gave up a three-run homer to Edwin Diaz (10) to make it 4-3 Hooks.

Midland tied the game with a sac fly against tandem reliever Yohan Ramirez, who worked 3.2 innings of one-run ball. The RockHounds, who walked nine times in the contest, left a whopping 16 runners on base but still pulled off the victory.

Matijevic was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs in the loss. Adams, making his Double-A debut, was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Calabuig went 4-for-6 with the winning shot for the Hounds.

Brandon Bailey (3-2, 3.26) is slated to come off the 7-day injured list Friday to make the start for the Hooks against Matt Milburn (5-8, 5.78). First pitch is 7:15 p.m.
