Peoria Rivermen News Release

PEORIA, IL - The Rivermen announced on Saturday that forward Cayden Cahill has been called up to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. In response, the Rivermen have signed defenseman Jeffery Wilkie and forward Nate Chasteen ahead of tonight's contest against the Quad City Strom.

Cahill, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, has been one of the breakout stars for the Rivermen this season. Though he was on last year's President's Cup championship squad, this season counts as his statistical rookie campaign in the SPHL. Cahill has not disappointed, netting 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points in 43 games played. Cahill ranks 4th in SPHL Rookie scoring.

Jeffery Wilkie, brother of Rivermen assistant captain Zach Wilkie, is a native of Villa Park in Illinois. Standing tall at 6'3, 213 lbs, Wilkie is a veteran of Western Michigan's club hockey program for four years. Saturday will mark his professional hockey debut and his first time playing on the same team as his brother Zach.

Nate Chasteen returns to the Rivermen after playing in one game earlier in the season. That game was beneficial for Chasteen as he netted an assist in the contest, currently his only SPHL point this season. Chasteen, a Peoria native, has five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 17 career SPHL games.

The Rivermen are back in action this evening at Carver Arena against the Quad City Storm. A single point for Peoria in tonight's contest will win them the season series against their rivals to the west. The Rivermen will be wearing specialty Shamrock uniforms and the first 1000 fans in the doors will receive a free replica championship ring, courtesy of Homefield Energy. Face-off for tonight's contest is set for 7:15 pm.
