Sacramento Republic FC fortified its midfield on Wednesday with the acquisition of Emil Cuello on loan from San Antonio FC. Cuello, an attacking midfielder from Argentina, is a high-quality, crafty No. 10 who has accumulated 24 appearances in Major League Soccer with the Los Angeles Galaxy - including the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup - in addition to his 22 appearances in the USL Championship.
The midfielder has had a breakout year in 2021 for the San Antonio side after signing in January from his second stint with the LA Galaxy. Cuello is closing in on 1,000 minutes for the first time in his career while leading the club with three assists to go along with two goals in 10 starts this season. The Argentine is no stranger to the USL Championship, logging six starts with LA Galaxy II in 2019
Cuello will be a key componentfor Republic FC down the stretch, as the Indomitable Club looks to build on its seven-game point streak in pursuit of a playoff spot. Additionally, he enters a midfield unit that has created 24 of the Indomitable Club's 34 chances over the last two games.
