Buzz Win Second Straight Game

January 16, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release

Honolulu, HI. Magic & Kareem, Batman & Robin, Kobe & Shaq, Laurel & Haardy, Montana & Rice - all great dynamic duos. These duos either carried their teams, cities or just made you laugh. The Buzz believe that Lamar Gayle & James Williams are the next great combo to carry their team. "After playing Wednesday at SoCal, Thursday at Tijuana, we just knew that we couldn't travel across the Pacific Ocean and then play and play like we have the last six games. Well, the Buzz Duo proved me wrong," said head coach Burrel Lee III. "These guys have completely terrorized teams putting up 71.4 ppg, 31.3rpg and 12.0apg between them...can you argue this?"

Gayle had 35 pts, 13 rebs, 7 ast; Williams added 25 pts, 19 rebs, 11 blks, 4 stls and 3 ast in the Buzz 121-101 win over the Hawaii Mega Force in Hawaii. "This was a big win for us; we have won 2 in a row, we are clicking and are 402 in our last 6 games. We just need to step up our defense and we will go a long way, and coach is letting us play and not holding us back," added Gayle. "I think we can keep playing like this and get a few upsets in there. We can go far. Our goal is the playoffs."

Other numbers for the Buzz: Everett Ratleff with 14 pts, 6 ast, 7 reb; Wendal Robinson with 13 pts, 7 reb. AJ Diggs with 11 pts, 12 ast, 6 reb and 4 stls. "This game was huge for us also because we started a new streak, a winning streak. It is only two in a row, but after a 12 game losing streak, any winning streak is good," stated Ratleff, who along with Robinsin and Jackson has been on the team from day one.
