Bustos to Join Men's National Team Camp by Allstate

December 24, 2020 - Canadian Premier League (CPL) - Pacific FC News Release

Victoria, BC - Pacific Football Club attacker Marco Bustos will be part of the Men's National Team camp presented by Allstate next month. The top scoring 24-year old will join the Florida-based preparatory camp in advance of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to begin in March 2021.

"We are extremely proud of Marco with his selection to the Men's Canadian team camp," said Rob Friend, CEO, Pacific FC. "It's a testament to his commitment as a professional on and off the field and no one deserves this more than Marco."

Winnipeg-native Bustos joined Pacific FC for the 2020 season and lit up the pitch with five goals and 10 assists in his inaugural year with the club. The January camp is a return to playing soccer for Canada Soccer's Men's National Team and will be carried out with all COVID-19 protocol in place.

"This is a great opportunity to start off 2021 on the right foot," said Bustos. "Getting back to the National Team was a big goal of mine after signing with Pacific and my time with the team has set me up to keep moving forward."

This is Bustos' first call up to the national team since 2017 and he is the only current player from the Canadian Premier League who will attend the camp. At 5 foot 6, Bustos is a fan favourite at Pacific and is known for his work ethic and quickness. He began his CPL career playing for Winnipeg's Valour where he was the team's top scorer.

He has quickly become a cornerstone of Pacific squad and credits the coaching staff for his upcoming opportunity.

"I have to thank Pacific's coaches, Pa, James and Riley for setting such a high standard and helping to get me back into the National Team fold," said Bustos.
