EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton has signed Midfielder Fraser Aird to a contract for the 2021 season, the club announced today.

Most recently, the 25-year-old played with Valour FC in 2020 in the Canadian Premier League (CPL), where he made six appearances, clocked 453 minutes, and scored one goal for the club.

"We are excited to bring in Fraser to join our squad" said FC Edmonton Head Coach Alan Koch. "His winning mentality and ability to create opportunities for his teammates are going to be a major part of our new team. I look forward to working with him to elevate his game to an even higher level. He has had excellent experiences in his career so far and we will help and support him in achieving individual and team success."

Born and raised in Toronto, ON, the 5'8, 154-pound midfielder made his debut for Canadian National Team (CANMNT) in 2010 at age 15. In 2011 Aird was signed to play for Rangers FC of the Scottish Premier League and made his debut for the club in 2012. Rangers FC was Aird's favourite club as a boy, and he was part of the club's historic 2013-14 squad that became the first Rangers team to go unbeaten in 115 years on their way to winning the Scottish League Championship. Aird finished his time with Rangers with 62 appearances and nine goals. In 2014, he was once again called up to the U- 20 CANMNT, coached at that time by Rob Gale, his recent coach with Valour.

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to join FC Edmonton for the 2021 season," said Aird. "I am looking forward to linking up with my new teammates and getting a chance to work with Alan and his coaching staff. I hope the fans can welcome me with open arms and I look forward to seeing you at Clarke Stadium soon!"

Following his stint in Scotland, Aird was sent on loan to the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2016, in which he made 18 appearances. In 2017, Aird returned to the Scottish Championship, joining Falkirk until the end of their season. That summer, he joined Dunfermline Athletic, making 21 appearances, and scoring four goals. Following his stint with Dunfermline, Aird once again played for Team Canada. In 2017, he scored his first goal in a men's international friendly in Edinburgh, Scotland, earning Player of the Match honours. He has a total of eight caps for the CNT, with a goal and an assist.

In 2018 Aird was signed on to play with Dundee United, where he made 19 appearances, and scored three times before a loan move to Queen of the South in 2019. The midfielder then signed for the Cove Rangers in the fall of that same year.
