Austin Bruins News Release
ABERDEEN, SD - Austin completes weekend sweep of Aberdeen to collect 4 big points in the NAHL Central Divison.
After taking a 3-1 win on Friday night at the Odde Ice Center, Bruins looked to complete the weekend sweep of the Wings on Saturday night. Things would be close and fast-paced in the first period of action until 18:48 into the period where Landry Schmuck would get his 4th goal of the season on from an assist from Cade Neilson. This would be the lone goal of the period as Aberdeen would take a 1-0 lead to the locker room after the first 20 minutes of action.
2nd period would prove to be a back and forth affair as Jens Richards to score his 11th of the season at 3:44 of the period to tie things up at 1-1. Carson Riddle and Alex Trombley would come together to assist on the goal from Richards. 2 minutes later, Seamus Campbell would give Aberdeen back the 2-1 lead on an unassisted goal. Things would stay 2-1 until 13:14 of the period where Jack Malinski would score his first of the season to tie things up at 2-2 and would stay that way into the intermission.
3rd period would be all Bruins as Matys Brassard would score his 2nd of the season, and the game-winner, assisted by his brother Isaak at 6:10 of the 3rd period. Trombley would put the icing on the cake with his 4th goal of the season, and 2nd point of the game to secure the 4-2 win over Aberdeen. Klayton Knapp would secure his first career Bruins win in his first start, stoping 28 of the 30 shots he would see.
Up next for the Bruins is a home-and-home series with the St. Cloud Norsemen, with Friday up in St. Cloud and Saturday back home at Riverside Arena. Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now at AustinBruins.com.
