Burnett Coming Back
May 13, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
The top rookie scorer for Tulsa Oilers in 2007-08 will be back for the 2008-09 Central Hockey League season.
Lucas Burnett has agreed to terms with the Oilers for his second professional season. The 6-foot-3, 225 pound, center from Rossland, BC joined the Oilers in early November, and had 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points and 83 penalty minutes in 59 games for the Oilers.
"There was no doubt that I wanted to get Lucas back with the Oilers," coach Dan Hodge said. "He gives us a lot of strength up the middle and is a power forward that the whole league learned about quickly. This is a special time for us, and it's important that our core group of players want to come back."
Burnett played college hockey for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks four years before turning pro with the Oilers. For him, returning to Tulsa was an easy decision to make.
"I just enjoyed myself tremendously in Tulsa, and with the new rink, the way we ended the season last year, I thought we had a good group of guys there," Burnett said. "You play hockey to have fun and win. Winning is the ultimate goal. That's why I'm coming back. I think we have a good chance to do all that next year."
The Oilers are hosting an Ice Breaker seat selection party on Sunday May 18 from 1-4 p.m. at the Oilers Ice Center, 64^th and Mingo. Fans will have a chance to visit with players, coach Hodge, general manager Taylor Hall and Oilers' owner Jeff Lund.
Season tickets for the Oilers 2008-09 season in the new BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825).
