JOLIET, IL - The Traverse City Beach Bums(42-52) combined great pitching performances with timely hitting to shutout the Joliet Slammers(51-45), 7-0, taking the final series of the 2016 season.

It took a few innings but the Beach Bums started off the fourth inning with a double by Will Kengor. He moved to third on a Steven Patterson groundout then with Kendall Patrick at the plate, Kengor scored on a wild pitch. In the sixth, Kengor walked this time to begin the frame. Elijah Trail followed two batters later with a single then, Kendall Patrick ripped an opposite field three-run homer to right, his fourth of the season, and Traverse City led 4-0.

The Beach Bums put up another three run inning in the eighth to break the game open. Kengor singled to start things off, followed by a Patterson single. Trail made it 5-0 with an RBI single to drive in Kengor. With two out, Patrick singled and Casey Rodrigue hit a shot down the right field line to score two and, although he got thrown out trying to extend to a double, the Beach Bums were up by seven and were never threatened.

Augie Gallardo, in his third start, improved to 3-0 with another great performance. He went seven innings of two hit, shutout ball, walking three, and he struck out seven. Joeanthony Rivera and Rob Blanc combined to finish off the shutout for Traverse City, allowing just one hit. Joliet's Kaleb Ort suffered the loss to fall to 3-4.
