Durham, NC - Jeremy Owens' RBI-single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Bulls a hard-earned, 3-2 win over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

With the score knotted 2-2, Joel Guzman led off with a single and was replaced by newcomer Josh Labandeira as a pinch runner. Lavandeira advanced to second on a pass ball, then scored one out later on Owens' single to left.

Durham trailed 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when they tied the game on Hector Gimenez's double play scoring Chris Richard. The Bulls took the lead in the eighth when Joel Guzman's sacrifice fly plated Reid Brignac to make it 2-1. Charlotte tied the game in the ninth inning when Chris Getz led off with a walk, took second and third on a wild pitch and scored on former Bull Fernando Cortez's single up the middle.

RHP Scott Munter (1-0) picked up the victory pitching two hitless innings of relief allowing only a walk and a strikeout. RHP Oneli Perez (0-1) took the loss allowing a run on two hits in one third of an inning.

The Bulls and Knights square off again on Wednesday evening at 7:05 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
