
Bulls Win 11th Straight

(Pawtucket, RI) Desmond Jennings hit a grand slam to cap a seven-run eighth, as the Bulls tied a franchise Triple-A record with an 11th straight win, 9-3 at Pawtucket.
Chris Richard started the rally against Fernando Cabrera with a leadoff walk. Joe Dillon hit a soft single to center, and Richard went first to third. J.J. Furmaniak then walked to loaded the bases. Angel Chavez singled to center tie the score, and Jose Lobaton and Fernando Perez each singled home a run for a 5-3 advantage. Jennings then drilled a 1-1 pitch onto the grass berm in left for his third homer of the season.
Justin Ruggiano and Richard had hit solo homers giving Durham a 2-1 lead going into the fifth. Lars Anderson's two-run two-out single to center in the bottom of the fifth gave Pawtucket its only lead. Heath Phillips halted the rally and then gave way to the bullpen, which threw four scoreless innings. Darin Downs (4-1) with two scoreless frames earned the win.
Durham collected 12 hits and five walks, as every Bull reached at least once.
The Bulls, a league-best 68-40, also won 11 straight games in the 2004 season. Durham seeks a new Triple-A mark on Monday at 7:05 as RHP Brian Baker takes the hill against Robert Coello. Airtime on 620 the Buzz is at 6:50.
