Amarillo Bulls News Release

Shreveport, LA - A trio of third period goals were too much for the Amarillo Bulls to overcome, as they fell to the Shreveport Mudbugs, 4-3, on Saturday night.

For the second night in a row, the Bulls took the lead with just under two minutes played, when Nick Stapleton poked a rebounding puck into the back of the net for his fourth of the season. Moments later, Amarillo to a 2-0 advantage as Oliver Bezick cleaned up a loose puck for his third of the campaign. Shreveport took advantage of a bouncing puck, as Ryan Waltman batted the puck into the back of the net, bringing the Mudbugs within a single tally. Aaron White would give Amarillo the two-goal advantage, again, when kept the puck on a two-on-one and shot it into the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season.

After a scoreless second period, the Mudbugs scored an early goal in the third period, when Jacob Smith found the back of the net. After a number of great saves by Bulls netminder Charlie Glockner, the Mudbugs scored the tying goal from a diving Brent Keefer, bring the score to 3-3. Moments later, Carson Nichols would secure the comeback victory for Shreveport, netting the game-winner with 1:07 left to play.

With the loss, the Bulls are now 29-7-1-2 with 61 points and are tied with the Lone Star Brahmas for the top spot in South Division standings.

The Bulls will take to the road on Friday, January 24, to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:15PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
