NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Corpus Christi IceRays fell to the Lone Star Brahmas by a 4-0 final Saturday at NYTEX Sports Centre. Cayden Bailey made 22 saves to record his sixth shutout of the season for the Brahmas (30-8-0-1, 61 pts.).
Brahmas center Andrew DeCarlo opened the game's scoring at 6:04 of the first period. The Brahmas then scored twice in 21 seconds, with Joey Baez picking up his Brahmas-leading 26th goal of the season at 12:11, then defenseman Malcolm Palmer recording his first career NAHL goal at 12:32.
Neither team scored in the second period with the Brahmas doubling the IceRays in shots, 10-5.
CJ Walker tipped the puck in at 7:43 of the third period to put Lone Star up 4-0.
The Brahmas outshot the IceRays by a 26-22 margin. Palmer's goal was the only one scored on the game's 11 combined power play opportunities.
The IceRays (13-22-3-3, 32 pts.) and Brahmas battle again next weekend with a pair of games in Corpus Christi. Puck drop on Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25 at American Bank Center is at 7:05 p.m. Friday's game is Auto Racing Night with South Texas Speedway presented by Sames Ford, including a specialty, game-worn jersey auction.
