Bulls Lead Slips Away in Overtime Loss to Fairbanks

Amarillo Bulls News Release
Amarillo, TX - A late, tying goal and an overtime tally were enough for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs to edge out the Amarillo Bulls in an 4-3 overtime victory on Saturday night.
The Ice Dogs looked to capitalize on the momentum from the previous night's win as they jumped out to the early lead just 2:15 into the contest, when Tyler Deweese netted his fourth goal of the season.
Amarillo wasted little time finding the answer, as Jonathan Young took a no-look feed from Nick Trela into the offensive zone and sniped a shot past Fairbanks' Mattias Sholl to level the contest.
Riding high from the quick reaction, the Bulls would grab the lead just over three minutes later, when Jordan Venegoni cleaned up a rebound in the crease and gave the Bulls the 2-1 lead.
Fairbanks nullified the advantage with a powerplay goal, late in the third period, on quick feed to Laker Aldridge to send the teams to the intermission tied at 2-2.
Early in the second period, the Bulls were awarded a powerplay opportunity and would break their man-advantage drought when Matt Allen sliced a cross-ice feed through the slot, finding the stick of Young, who buried his second goal of the game to give Amarillo the 3-2 lead.
The Bulls lead would hold until the dying seconds of the third period, when, with the net empty, Fairbanks' Luke Ciolli lifted a loose puck past Bulls goaltender Charlie Glockner to tie the game at 3-3.
The two teams would need an overtime period to decide the victor, and after the game looked as though it may head to the shootout, Adam Eisele deflected a puck into the back of the net to win the game for the Ice Dogs.
The 4-3 loss drops the Bulls to an 8-4-1-1 record heading into next weekend's home stand.
The Bulls will remain in the Budweiser Bullpen on Friday, November 1 to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
