Amarillo Bulls News Release

THE SERIES: This is the fourth meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The Bulls have collected points (5) in all three games and have posted back to back wins. The only setback was a 3-2 shootout decision back in September.

WILDCATS FALL TO TEXAS: The Wichita Falls Wildcats surrendered two third period goals and dropped a 5-4 decision to the Texas Tornado on home ice at Kay Yeager Coliseum. The Wildcats actually owned a 4-2 lead late in the second period when the Tornado marched back with one goal late in the period and then two more early in the third. Four different goals scorers tallied for the Wildcats while Mac Olsen and Ryan Frost each had two helpers. Goaltender Eric Garavaglia took the loss.

THE WIN STREAK: In the Bulls five game winning streak, the team has averaged nearly five goals per game but goaltender Nikifor Szczerba has yielded less than three a game. All but two Bulls players have figured in the scoring. Twelve players have scored goals.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Amarillo Bulls have been tough to beat on home ice this season with seven wins at the Amarillo Civic Center. In all but one game the Bulls managed to score at least four goals. Amarillo is unbeaten at home when they have gone into the dressing room tied after 40 minutes.

COMEBACK TEAM: It's been a wild last four games for the Amarillo Bulls where they have let their opponent race out to leads only to come back and win. The largest deficit was three goals against the Topeka Road Runners. In the last two the Bulls opponent has only been able to score one third period goal.

IN-DIVISION NUMBERS: The Amarillo Bulls have the second best record within the South Division this season at 9-2-1 trailing the Texas Tornado which is 13-0-1. The Wildcats have won just eight games in their own division and have a record of 8-7-2. The Topeka RoadRunners are 4-2-2 in the South but 7-3-0 outside of their division.

BULLS ADD OFFENSE TO LINE-UP: The Amarillo Bulls bolstered their offense and power play with the acquisition of forward Brooks Behling from the Chicago Hittmen. In exchange, the Bulls sent forward Taylor Ward to the windy city. Behling a native of Pittsburgh, PA, notched seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 21 games. He has fired four power play goals and was second on his team in shots on goal with 66.

ELSEWHERE IN THE SOUTH: The Corpus Christi Ice Rays snapped rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to nip the New Mexico Mustangs 2-1 at Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho on Thursday night. It was just the Ice Rays second in their last 10. The two teams meet again on Friday in New Mexico. Meantime, the Texas Tornado take their 14 game winning streak to Topeka for a two game set against the RoadRunners.

STAT OF THE GAME: The Amarillo Bulls and the Wichita Falls Wildcats are a combined 15-1-1 when they have outshot their opponents this season. When it comes to shots for and against during the game, the Bulls have fired just under 32 shots per game while Wichita Falls have shot 34.
