Amarillo Bulls News Release

Soldotna, AK - A three-goal first period powered the Kenai River Brown Bears to a 5-1 win over the Amarillo Bulls on Saturday night.

Kenai River wasted little time gaining the early momentum, as Jack Quinn scored early in the opening frame. The Brown Bears would score a second goal, shortly after, as Skyler Gutierrez brought the score line to 2-0. Later in the period, Quinn would, again, find the back of the net, giving the Brown Bears the 3-0 lead.

Mid-way into the second, Kenai River grew its lead to 4-0 as Porter Schachle found the back of the net. The Bulls would get on the scoreboard when an odd-man rush was capped off by Nick Stapleton's sixth goal of the season.

The third period saw a late goal from Quinn, capping off his three-goal night, and securing the 5-1 victory for Kenai River.

With the loss, the Bulls are now 39-10-2-3 with 83 points and are in second place in the South Division standings.

The Bulls remain to the road on Friday, March 13, to take on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 10:30PM CST on Mixlr.com and Hockey TV.
