Bulls Fall Short in Weekend Split with Lone Star
November 30, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release
Fort Worth, TX - The Amarillo Bulls' second period push was not enough to overcome the deficit, as the team fell to the Lone Star Brahmas 4-2 on Saturday night.
The Bulls saw themselves fall behind in the shots in the early goings of the first period, and the Brahmas would make the most of their opportunities, as Will Stromp gave Lone Star the 1-0 lead mid-way through the frame. Thomas Daskas would add to the Lone Star advantage, doubling the score, with tenth of the season.
In the second period, the Bulls saw their deficit grow to 3-0 when Evan Googins wristed home a breakaway opportunity. Amarillo would quickly find life as Marr Allen tucked home a backdoor feed to bring the score to 3-1. The Bulls would climb to within a single tally, when Ty Black scored off a deflected Noah Carlin powerplay shot.
The Brahmas would extend their lead back to two goals when Drew DeCarlo slotted home a goal early in the third to bring the score to 4-2.
"I liked the way we were able to respond when we went down 3-0," said Rocky Russo, the coach of the Bulls. "We just need to learn how to play a 60-minute game. We haven't done that, yet, this year."
With the loss, the Bulls are now 16-5-1-2 on the season and maintain their hold on the second position in the South Division.
The Bulls will remain on the road on Friday, December 6 to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:15PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
