
Chippewa Steel Sweep Springfield Jr. Blues 4-0 on Saturday Night

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI - The Chippewa Steel wrapped up their weekend series against the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday night in front of a packed house.
A scoreless first period set the stage for a tight battle between these two teams. Despite two power play opportunities for Springfield, Steel goalie Grant Boldt kept things even and shut down the Jr. Blues.
The second period was controlled by the Steel. An unassisted goal from Nik Norman got the Steel going and found the back of the net early in the period at the 2:08 mark. The first line of Ryan Kerchoff, Killian Kiecker-Olson, and Jacob Dirks came alive and each added goals, extending the Steel lead to 4-0. Assists came from Dirks, Szmul, and Kiecker-Olson respectively.
The Steel continued to dominate the third period. Despite a physical third period the Steel prevailed defeating the Jr. Blues 4-0. Grant Boldt was in goal for the shutout win.
