Bulls Edged by Stockton in a Shootout, 4-3

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls fought hard, coming back from a one goal deficit three times, but ultimately couldn't find the elusive go-ahead goal, losing 4-3 to the Stockton Thunder in a shootout. Ryan McDonough scored twice in the losing effort, and Dale Mitchell also contributed a goal.
The first period saw the two sides trade goals, with Stockton jumping out in front just a minute and a half into the game on a goal from Alex MacLeod. San Francisco scored the equalizer when Dale Mitchell tipped in a blast from Scott Langdon at the blue line that beat Thunder netminder Parker Milner glove side. Three minutes later, Corey Trivino gave Stockton the lead once again, with a power play goal at 12:35. With just 2.2 seconds remaining in the period, Ryan McDonough brought the game back to a draw at 2-2. For the period, the Bulls led in shots 14-9.
Despite the Bulls dominating the period, the second period saw both sides trade goals again. At 5:45, James Henry notched a power-play goal to put Stockton back out in front 3-2. Just under 10 minutes later, McDonough found the back of the net for the second time on a mid-air feed from Dean Ouellet. Chris Crane was also given an assist on the goal. The game remained at a stalemate, 3-3, heading into the third.
Through the end of regulation and overtime neither side could find the game winner, sending the game to a shootout. In the shootout, Stockton found the back of the net twice, one more than the Bulls could muster, sending the Thunder home winners, 4-3.
The Bulls play their final preseason game tomorrow when they travel to Bakersfield to take on the Condors at 4 pm. For San Francisco, the regular season begins on October 18 in Alaska to take on the Aces for a weekend set.
