Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls offense was held in check Sunday evening at the DBAP, as they dropped the series finale against the Buffalo Bisons by a final score of 4-0. Tyler Saucedo (6-0) recorded the victory for the Bisons, while Sam McWilliams (1-2) suffered the loss for the Bulls, who played as Mal de Ojo de Durham in the final game of Latino Heritage Weekend.

Andy Burns started the scoring in the second inning, with an RBI single to put the Bisons ahead 1-0. Michael De La Cruz followed that up with an RBI groundout to extend the lead to 2-0 later in the frame.

The Bisons extended their lead in the fourth inning, with a Rowdy Tellez solo home run to left center field to take a 3-0 advantage. Burns continued his strong outing with another RBI, this time in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Bulls offense struggled to generate momentum all day, recording just three hits. The Bulls loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring the tying run to the plate, but the Bisons pitching staff held on and combined to strike out 11 batters and helped avoid the sweep.

The Bulls now head out to begin a seven-game road trip, with stops in Gwinnett, Charlotte and Norfolk, before returning home on August 6th for a series against the Syracuse Mets.
