AMARILLO, TX - Halloween is all about tricks and treats, but the Amarillo Bulls were unable to get neither of them on Saturday night.

The Bulls surrendered two goals in the first 40 minutes and another in the third period that quashed a comeback bid and dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lone Star Brahmas at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Brahmas are 10-2 in their last 12 games versus Amarillo dating back to early last season.

Amarillo's coaching staff was hoping for the same type of effort and emotion the team displayed on Friday when they fell to the Brahmas 3-2. However, that wasn't the case as the Bulls had a flat night and were unable to generate much offence.

Lone Star raced out to a 1-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game when a shot from Joe Fallon beat Anton Martinsson on the top shelf. It was all Brahmas in the first period firing 17 shots at goaltender Martinsson. At the other end, it took the Bulls just over half a period to generate their first shot on goal. The best chance was saved for the final five minutes when Brady Crabtree and company crashed the front of the net, but couldn't bang home the loose puck that was lying just beyond the goal crease.

The second period didn't start much better for the Bulls as a shot from the point hit several players in front, including forward Joey DiBenedetto, before beating goaltender Martinsson. The goal was later credited to Kyle Patava who finished the game with eight shots. The Bulls offence caught fire in the second half of the period with a bit more sustained pressure, but chances by Jake Houston, Johan Lundgren and George Mika missed the mark. Lone Star outshot Amarillo 17-6.

The Brahmas allowed the Bulls some life in the final 20 minutes by taking penalties. Amarillo had a five-on-three but couldn't get anything by goaltender Corbin Kaczperski. Nick Devito raced quickly up the ice on an opportunity but his shot was turned aside. The Bulls were given another power play in the final 1:28 of regulation. After a timeout, Head Coach Matt Nicholson pulled goaltender Martinsson to set up a two-man advantage. The Bulls won the face off, but it was the Brahmas getting bodies in front and able to fire the puck the length of the ice into an empty net to end the hopes of a comeback.

The Lone Star Brahmas outshot the Amarillo Bulls 46-17 including 13-7 in the third period.
