Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls added more speed and offensive scoring punch to their line-up today (Tuesday) by acquiring forward Cody Gylling from the Johnstown Tomahawks in exchange for forward Omar Mullan.

Gylling, a native of Chandler Arizona, led the Tomahawks in scoring last season with 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points 49 penalty minutes. The 5-9, 175 pound forward was plus five and notched seven power play goals.

"We are really excited to have Cody and he is somebody that we have targeted for a while," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "We expect great things from him and to be a leader on this team.

"Cody will have an opportunity to play with some high end forwards, and he is a proven guy that can put the puck in the net. He knows how to play hard nose hockey after playing for Jason Spence. We saw that at the NAHL Showcase when we played against them."

It's the second trade the Bulls have completed with the Tomahawks. Early last season, the Bulls acquired Gage Christianson during the NAHL Showcase.

"Johnstown's Coach Jason Spence is a good guy to deal with because we trust one another and the biggest thing we want is that both players are going to good homes," Williams said. "We both feel that it's the right move for both teams."

Mullan, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, played in 110 games for the Bulls over two plus seasons where he fired 25 goals and 45 assists for 70 points. Mullan was a combined plus 52, had 314 minutes in penalties minutes, and fired five power play goals. In 23 playoff games the 5-10, 180 pound forward added five goals and 11 assists for 16 points.

"I know Omar will do very well in Johnstown," said Williams. "It was a tough move because Omar has been with us for two years. We have seen that players who we have moved on from here have done well at the Division I and Division III levels. Omar will go there and provide great leadership and has the characteristics of a winner with hard work and heart."
