Killer Bees Home Opening Weekend Arrives

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release


HIDALGO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees will be playing their home opener two game series against the Wichita Falls Wildcats at the State Farm Arena on Saturday, September 28 at 7:05 p.m. and on Sunday, September 29 at 4:05 p.m. at the State Farm Arena.

After playing six games on the road the Bees will finally play in the Rio Grande Valley on their home floor. Fans should expect a grand opening show which will include the celebration of State Farm Arena's 10th Anniversary and commemorating the past Killer Bees Team.

The two game series will also be the start of a rivalry against opponent Wichita Falls Wildcats. "They are one of the best teams in the division," says Killer Bees President, Bill Stewart. Currently the Wildcats have a record of 4 - 1 - 1 (wins - loss - overtime loss).

The Killer Bees have a record of 2 - 1 - 3. In the South Division, the Bees stand in third place, Topeka at first and Wichita Falls at second. Goalie Olli Kalkaja is currently ranked 10th in the league in goalie leaders.

The NAHL consists of 24 teams split into 4 divisions. The RGV Killer Bees competes in the biggest division which is the South division and includes 7 teams, the Amarillo Bulls, Corpus Christi IceRays, Odessa Jackalopes, Lone Star Brahmas, Topeka RoadRunners and the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
