San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Josh Banda's second inning, three-run homer propelled the San Angelo Colts to a 5-1 win over the Abilene Prairie Dogs Sunday evening at Foster Field.

Banda's two-out homer scored designated hitter Cory Patton and third baseman Jason Crosland who had each singled earlier in the inning. Patton and Crosland both recorded two hits.

While Banda, Patton and Crosland provided the offensive spark, it was the Colts' bullpen that shut down Abilene.

Starter Chad Nading was taken out in the third inning after aggravating a rib injury he sustained on Opening Night. Righty Ryan Hanna (1-0) came in and pitched four shutout innings to earn the win. Hanna allowed just four hits and struck out as many batters.

Lefty David Phillips and righthander Erik Draxton combined to shut out the Prairie Dogs through the final three innings. The Colts bullpen did not even allow a hit after the sixth inning.

With the victory, the Colts are now 5-0. Abilene's loss drops them to 2-3.

The Colts travel to Abilene Monday evening to play game two of this home and home series against the Prairie Dogs. Righty Brian Henschel (1-0, 5.40) will start for the Colts opposite Abilene lefthander Adam Rowe (1-0, 0.00). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on KKSA 1260.

The Colts next home game is Tuesday. It will be the first Budweiser $2 Tuesday of the season.

The San Angelo Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
