Montgomery Biscuits News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The bullpen tossed five scoreless-innings as they offense went 5-for-8 with runners in scoring position for an 5-3 win for the Biscuits (62-69/27-34) over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (55-76/24-37) Friday night at Pensacola Bay Front Stadium.
The bullpen shined in a game where the Wahoos answered almost every score from the Biscuits. Michael Colla started the fifth inning, but walked the first two batters then left the game without recording an out. Matt Lollis (6-2) allowed one inherited runner to score and tie the game on a double-play ball, but was able to limit the damage. Lollis struck out five through three innings of work for the win.
Andrew Bellatti struck out the side in the ninth, while Bryce Stowell (2) struck out two in a perfect ninth inning for the save.
The Biscuits jumped out to a 2-0 lead with consecutive-RBI-singles from Jake Hager and Taylor Motter in the third inning. Pensacola answered quickly with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, but Richie Shaffer gave the Biscuits their second lead of the night with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Biscuits took the lead for the final time with a Cameron Seitzer RBI-single to score Motter in the sixth inning. Montgomery added an insurance run with a sac fly from Luke Maile in the eighth inning.
Colla was able to work around a season-high six walks for the no-decision, while the Wahoos went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Game two is Saturday night at 6:30. RH Dylan Floro will throw for the Biscuits, while Pensacola has not yet announced their starter.
