Indianapolis Indians News Release

SCRANTON, Pa. -- RHP Bryan Bullington threw his first career Triple-A complete game Tuesday night, but it was not enough as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre downed Indianapolis 4-3 at Lackawanna County Stadium. The Indians, who stay atop the International League's West Division, fall to 35-23 with the loss. The Red Barons improve to 25-31 on the season.

Bullington (2-3) was pinned with the loss (8.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) despite going the distance. Red Barons RHP Clay Condrey (4-5) earned the victory (7.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) while RHP Franklin Perez came in to throw a perfect ninth to earn his 11th save (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 SO) of the season.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tallied single runs in both the first and second innings. LF Mark Budzinski led off the first with a double and was plated when 1B Ryan Howard lined a two-out single to right field. In the bottom of the second, two Tribe miscues allowed CF Shane Victorino to reach and score.

Indianapolis pushed across its first run in the third. SS Jorge Velandia walked to lead off the inning and was brought around when 2B Cesar Crespo grounded into a fielder's choice.

The Red Barons plated another pair of solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Former Indian 3B Chris Coste led off the fourth with a double to right and scored on a Victorino sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Budzinski reached on an Indians miscue and scored when RF Jim Rushford -- another former Indian -- grounded out.

The Tribe plated the final two runs of the game in the eighth. The Indians loaded the bases when Crespo and LF Nate McLouth walked after CF Chris Duffy singled. Then, 1B Graham Koonce plated Duffy with a sacrifice fly to center. 3B Ty Wigginton knocked a single into right to score Crespo and finish the scoring.

Duffy (3-for-4), who extended his season-high hitting streak to eight games, and newly-acquired C Ronny Paulino (2-for-3) were the only Indians to record multiple hits. The Tribe managed only seven hits in the game after averaging 13.3 over their last three contests (40 H/3 G).

Indianapolis continues its eight-game road trip on Wednesday with game two of a four-game series at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Wednesday's game against the Red Barons, which is set for 6 p.m., will be carried by ESPN-950 AM as Howard Kellman and Robert Portnoy have the call. The pre-game show begins at 5:40 p.m.
