Brazell lefts Tides over Bulls, 7-3

Craig Brazell went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, lifting the Tides to a 7-3 win over the Durham Bulls on Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

Brazell doubled and scored in the 2nd inning, drove home two with an RBI single in the 6th inning, and singled in another run in the 8th. The three hits tied a season-high for Brazell and helped the Tides win their fourth straight after losing a season-high five in a row.

Jason Scobie (6-3) allowed just one earned run on five hits in 6.0 innings of work, walking three and striking out two. Cox High School product Tim LaVigne worked the final three innings to pick up his first career Triple-A save.

Ron Calloway had an interesting night at the plate, drawing four walks in four plate appearances and scoring two runs. He also thew out the potential tying run at the plate in the top of the 6th inning.

Rodney Nye had two hits and drove in two and Jeff Keppinger had an RBI double as the Tides (33-27), who improved to 6-1 this year against Durham.

Chesapeake native B.J. Upton went 0-for-3 with a walk in his return to Harbor Park.

The Tides take on the Bulls in the finale of their six-game homestand Wednesday afternoon at Harbor Park. First pitch is slated for 12:15.
