Richmond, VA- The Richmond Braves edged the Rochester Red Wings 4-3 in 12 innings Tuesday at The Diamond. The Braves shook off a two-out game-tying home run in the ninth to beat the Red Wings for the first time in five tries this season.
The Wings jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Jason Bartlett. The Braves snapped a 37.2 inning scoreless streak against Rochester with a two-run homer in the fourth by James Jurries. Richmond made it 3-1 on a Bill McCarthy home run in the sixth. Bartlett forced extra innings with his home run in the ninth. In the 12th Michael Rosamond hustled out an infield single that scored Scott Pratt to give the Braves the win. It was Rosamond's second walk-off hit of the season.
The two clubs combined for 27 hits and 26 left on base. The two clubs were a combined 2-24 with runners in scoring position. Jeremy Ward picked up the win. Ricky Barrett took the loss. Jurries had three hits for Richmond. Three Red Wings had three hit games including Bartlett.
