Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Green Bay Bullfrogs pushed across a couple runs in the 11th inning, overcoming a blown 7-0 lead, to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers 9-7 at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Nick Stein's RBI double off reliever Brian Heldman (Arkansas) in the 11th was the difference. Bullfrogs relief pitcher Bradley Wallace was outstanding, as he pitched five shutout innings to pick up the win. The Bombers bullpen was terrific throughout the night, after starter Dylan Rheault (Central Michigan) struggled with his control. The pen pitched 10 and one-third innings, only allowing one run.

Green Bay scored seven runs (five unearned) in the first to break out to a huge lead, but the Bombers fought back. A four-run sixth pulled Battle Creek even. Turner Gill (Portland) was 2-6 with a big two-run double. Collin Willis (Purdue North Central) was 2-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

The two teams will close out the mini two-game series tomorrow night at C.O. Brown Stadium. Joe Battistelli (Eastern Michigan) will start on the hill for the Bombers.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
