The home opener at KAPCO Park began with celebrations and excitement, but ended with a tough loss to the Eau Claire Express, 2 to 1. The Chinooks, represented on the mound by Tyler Thicke (MATC Madison), struggled in the first inning allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run. From that point on, Thicke and the Chinooks defense shut down the Express with a dominating performance. Thicke retired 18 straight to end his day with a game-high 11 strikeouts.

"I actually think that might be the most strike outs in my career. Early I left the ball up a little bit, hanging breaking balls and with this caliber hitter, it's going to get hit," Thicke said after the game.

A valiant last effort by the Chinooks wasn't enough to spark the comeback as the team failed to score in the bottom of the ninth with a man on first.

The Chinooks ended the day with 1 run, scored in the third inning, and four hits with no errors.
