
Bullfrogs Shutout in La Crosse on Wednesday

La Crosse, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs began the second half of their season on Wednesday night in La Crosse to begin a two-game series with the Loggers. On Wednesday, La Crosse held the Bullfrogs to just four hits while two home runs by the Loggers propelled them to victory by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday.
Ty Provencher (Long Beach State) started on the mound for La Crosse on Wednesday night and gave up only two hits and no runs to Green Bay. He also struck out four to earn the win for the Loggers.
La Crosse gave Provencher enough run support and plated three of their seven runs in the fifth inning. Ryne Birk (Texas A&M) hit a two-run home run in the inning that put La Crosse up 5-0. Austin Rei (Washington) also hit an RBI double in the frame that gave the Loggers their fourth run of the game.
Birk finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored to lead the Loggers on Wednesday night.
La Crosse scored their first run of the game in the second inning. Ryan Kirby (San Diego) hit a one-out solo home run to put the Loggers up 1-0.
Runs scored in the third and seventh inning added to La Crosse's total and put them up by a score of 7-0.
Jacob Dorris (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) also threw three shutout innings out of the bullpen after Provencher to preserve the lead for La Crosse.
Zac Butler (Lincoln Memorial) started for the Bullfrogs on Wednesday. In his third start of the season, Butler threw four and one-third innings and gave up five runs on eleven hits to La Crosse while taking the loss for the Green Bay.
The Bullfrogs and Loggers will play the final game of their series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Copeland Park in La Crosse.
