Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI. - The visiting Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (24-17, 3-3) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never looked back, securing the 7-5 victory over the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (13-29, 1-5) at Joannes Stadium Monday evening. The Dock Spiders clinch the season series over the Bullfrogs, improving to 5-1 against Green Bay this season.
Fond du Lac tallied an early three-spot in the second inning with a RBI double by Kiambu Fentress followed by two more runs scoring on an error to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. The Dock Spiders added another run in the third frame on a RBI single from Mitch Boe to make it a 4-0 contest.
The Bullfrogs got on the board with a RBI ground out by Blake Nelson (Junior, Univ. of Michigan) in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the deficit down to 4-1. A run-scoring base hit from Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo (Freshman, Navarro College) in the fifth inning trimmed the margin in half at 4-2.
The Dock Spiders tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh on a wild pitch and RBI triple from Tyler Wardwell to stretch the advantage to 6-2. Fond du Lac's Alex Erro then tallied a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to extend the margin to 7-2.
Green Bay made it interesting in the bottom of the eighth as a RBI single from Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) made it 7-3. Nelson then grounded a base-hit up the middle to plate two more runs and trim the deficit down to 7-5. The Bullfrogs had runners at first and second base with one out in the ninth inning, but Fond du Lac turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
