Green Bay Rockers News Release

Wausau, WI. - After the visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (13-30) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the eighth inning, the host Wisconsin Woodchucks (17-25) tallied five runs in the following frame to secure the 6-1 victory at Athletic Park Tuesday evening. The Bullfrogs were held to just four hits in the contest and have now lost 10 of their last 11 games.

The Woodchucks offense notched their first hit in the second inning with a double from Zach DeLoach to get the bats started. One batter later, Alex Toral drove home DeLoach on a RBI double to give Wisconsin an early 1-0 advantage.

Neither team could scratch across a run until the Bullfrogs got on the board in the top of the eighth inning. A RBI double by Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) scored Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo (Freshman, Navarro College) to knot the score at 1-1. The Woodchucks answered immediately with a five-run explosion in the bottom half of the inning to take back the lead at 6-1.

Wisconsin's rally began with Brandt Broussard scoring on a passed ball to put the Woodchucks back on top 2-1. Nick Loftin then posted a RBI single to make it 3-1 before a three-run blast by Alex Toral extended the advantage out to five runs.

Maris finished 2-for-4 with a RBI to lead the Green Bay offense. Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) and Andre Antone (Freshman, UC Irvine) each went 1-for-3 and 1-for-4 at the plate, respectively.

Wisconsin relief pitcher Joey Hennessey earned the win, improving to 1-2. Green Bay reliever Ben Keizer (Sophomore, Michigan) took the loss, falling to 0-1. Bullfrogs starting pitcher Cody Norman (Sophomore, Univ. of La Verne) put together a quality outing in his first start of the season. Norman went 6 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts.

Both teams wrap-up the series tomorrow evening at 6:35 p.m. from Athletic Park. Fans can tune in to the live radio broadcast on WOCO (107.1 FM) or online at WOCO.Caster.FM.
