Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- If you think versatility, you think of a player such as Tyler McDowell. McDowell, a 6'4" freshman left-handed pitcher, who regularly plays first base, and can even man the outfield. He joins the 2015 Green Bay lineup with a talented 6'2" right-handed hurler, Parker Hamilton, as the Bullfrogs continue to mold their dynamic roster.
In 28 games played at Washington State University, McDowell has started 26 of them, recording a .257 AVG with a .360 OBP. On March 6th, in a 14-2 drubbing of Sacred Heart University, McDowell sparked the team at the dish going 2-for-2 with 2RBI and 1BB. On the mound, McDowell has landed seven appearances and one start in 5 1/3 innings of work. Ready to participate in his opening summer collegiate season, McDowell hails from Puyallup, Washington, where he was a four-year letter-winner at Puyallup High School. An All- South Puget Sound League performer for three seasons, McDowell won a 4A state championship his senior year.
"It will be a lot of experience and playing time, and I've heard the stadium is always full with fans cheering you on," said McDowell. "The guys I've talked to who played in the League said it was really great and competitive because you get to play almost everyday."
Parker Hamilton, of Florida Gulf Coast University, is a red shirt freshman from Jupiter, Florida. In limited action for the Eagles, Hamilton notched a start against Central Michigan on Feb. 15th. In a March 8th appearance against Western Michigan, Hamilton tossed his first collegiate scoreless inning. In his senior season at Jupiter High School, he helped guide his team to the state final four. Capable of pitching effectively from both the bullpen and starting rotation, Hamilton is engaged with furthering his baseball career within the challenging environment of the Northwoods League.
"I've been told that the talent is really good and that it's a hitter's league," said Hamilton. "I'm excited about that as a pitcher and hopefully our pitcher's can turn it into a pitcher's league. I got into this knowing that it's a grind and this is a great experience to go through in order to do what you love."
The Bullfrogs will open up the 2015 season at home on May 26th against the La Crosse Loggers. Group tickets, season tickets and 7-game packages are on sale now. The Bullfrogs off-season hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. For more information please visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
