ROCKFORD, IL - The Hamilton Bulldogs held on to their second period lead to defeat the Rockford IceHogs 3-1 in what proved to be a rough game.

The 'Dogs took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Brian Willsie's one-timer from the face-off circle beat IceHogs netminder Carter Hutton. After 20 minutes, Rockford led Hamilton 11-7 on the shot clock.

Joonas Nattinen made it 2-0 for the 'Dogs when he scored his ninth of the season on a power play just 5:05 into the second period. Alexander Avtsin and Brian Willsie also collected assists on the play. The IceHogs would capitalize on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity midway through the second period as Jeremy Morin scored his fifth of the season to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1.

The IceHogs and Bulldogs battled hard during the third period, but Gabriel Dumont sealed Hamilton's victory with an empty net shorthanded goal, making it a 3-1 final. 'Dogs netminder Robert Mayer faced 36 shots in the game, while Hamilton registered a total of 19 shots.
